The ACT Scorers Committee has four main aims:
Recruitment The
main aim of the scorers is the recruitment of more people to become cricket
scorers in all forms of cricket in the ACT.
This will in time lead to all first grade teams, both male and female, having
at least a first grade scorer.
It will also help with scorers for national youth championships and a very high
level of scorers for the senior representative matches in the ACT. Accreditation Accreditation adds to the professionalism of
the scorers in the eyes of the cricket world and the cricket community in general.
The ACT Scorers Committee at this stage will be using the scorer’s exams that have
been created by the NSW Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association.
We are encouraging all scorer members (and umpires!)
to undertake the basic scorers exam and, if and when they feel confident, to have a go at the advanced
scorers exam. Appointments The ACT Cricket Scorers Committee will be responsible
for the appointments for all representative matches. This includes senior representative, junior representative and youth carnival
matches. Appointments are made for all of the senior representative matches played in
Canberra with two scorers and a reserve appointed for each match. A process has also been created for the appointment of the scorers for the Prime
Minister’s XI match, the pinnacle of matches for scorers in the ACT. Recognition The ACT Cricket Scorers Committee works with Cricket ACT
and the cricket clubs of the ACT in terms of recognising the work of the scorers.
The committee acts as a body which helps improve the conditions and awareness of
cricket scorers among the cricket and wider community. |
